Carlton Melton plays this Sat October 13th at the Knockout in San Francisco with Buffalo Tooth and Chaki… early show 4-8pm !!!VVVVVVVVV
Buffalo Tooth - …From raved up psychedelic trips, to jangling East Coast melodies and thrashing punk rippers and everywhere in between Buffalo Tooth not only walk the walk, they talk the talk and seem to understand a few fundamental things about music most musicians are missing out on. Not bound to any flagship style or sound, Buffalo Tooth is free to continue creating their own music with out the expectations or interference from the world around them, and that’s the way it should be… ( psychedelic baby magazine )..
Chaki - .. Chaki is a funky alien wizard from Outer Space hailing from the planet Chaka 12. With his unique take on electro punk bass thump, he has brought his weird ass stage show to festivals like Noise Pop and has opened up for like minded weirdos Peelander Z, Bob Log III, Metalachi, Captured By Robots and The Oingo Boingo Dance Party. Rolling Stone said he is like Prince except not sexy and much fatter.. https://chaki.bandcamp.com/

…The council of psychedelia known as Carlton Melton unleash another slab of wax and have the audacity to call it an EP. It’s twenty five minutes long, that I’ll grant you, but over three tracks. Psych rock is a different world, of course, and Carlton Melton have always needed a lot of time to stretch out. They’re excused because opener “Memory” is maybe the most beautiful thing they’ve ever put out, a meditation made against but also in conjunction with all their inhibitions -- the same basic band plays this spacey, hypnotic guitar tune, but they do so in a whisper of unison, brushing drums against gorgeously hushed guitar work that could easily exist in the first half of an Explosions In The Sky song…

…‘The Warbler’ is one of the most blissed-out , abstracted things the band has ever done, like the deconstructed habits of British post-rock taken away from the urban gloom and set free in the Cascade mountains at dawn…

THE QUIETUS - CARLTON MELTON ‘MIND MINERALS’ REVIEW -
Since they emerged from the overpopulated coterie of Northern California psych-rock acts, Carlton Melton have been on a journey of simplification and distillation. It is an illuminating exercise to revisit their debut, 2009’s Pass It On, and note just how musical it is, how colourful, compared to this, their sixth album proper. Mind Minerals is a double album of magnificent monotony, defiantly uncompromising improvisation and breathtakingly dense instrumental noise…- barnaby smith..

Billowing like fog out of the lush ancient forests, and rhythmic shorelines of Northern California, Carlton Melton unearth their latest full-length album: Mind Minerals. Once again this trio orchestrates a futurescape ambient-psychedelic-post rock soundtrack poem. Plugging into their instruments, and manifesting space travel, Mind Minerals floats powerful searing music into the cavity of our mind’s marrow. ….

psych insight music - Album Review: Mind Minerals by Carlton Melton
It’s an album that announces itself with a bang, and leaves with a flourish; yet in between there’s plenty there to sit and just be… to zone out and refuel. It is very much an album that has to be played in full to be properly appreciated, and for me that’s very welcome in a culture that wants its gratifications far too quickly. Here Carlton Melton release the musical pheromones slowly and allow you time to react accordingly. …
